Congratulations to assistant professor Kimberly Shotick, who recently co-authored a new article published in the latest issue of College & Research Libraries. The article, “Academic Success and Campus Engagement: Insights from Library Usage at Two Universities,” examines how student interactions with library spaces, services and resources can be connected to broader measures of academic success and campus engagement. Drawing on data from two universities, the authors analyze patterns of library use to better understand how different types of engagement may relate to student outcomes such as persistence, achievement and involvement in campus life.
The study highlights the value of looking at library usage data as part of a larger picture of student experience and success. Findings suggest that library engagement is not one-dimensional, but instead reflects a range of behaviors that may be associated with academic and social integration on campus. These insights can help libraries refine services, spaces and outreach efforts to better support students throughout their academic journeys.
