The Programming and Promotions Committee successfully moved our public lecture and performance series, the Research & Artistry Series, to a fully online platform in the 2020-2021 academic year. Starting in September 2020, the Library hosted 6 virtual events with over 150 attendees. Highlights from this year’s programs include:
- Challenges of Communiversity Organizing, presented by Mark Schuller (Anthropology)
- 125th Anniversary Project: Forward Together: Celebrating NIU’s Native American Past, Present, and Future, presented by Melissa Adams-Campbell (English) and Natalie Joy (History)
- 4th Annual NIU Faculty Authors Book Celebration featuring 31 publications by NIU faculty from 2019!
- Putting COVID in Perspective: Vaccines and Pandemics Past and Present, a panel discussion with Beatrix Hoffman (History), Simón Weffer (Sociology), Tomoyuki Shibata (Public Health), Barrie Bode (Biological Sciences) and Beth Squires (Public Health)
- Roger Angell: America’s Greatest Living Baseball Writer, presented by Joe Bonomo (English)
- NIU Women Faculty in STEM Fields: A celebration of their accomplishments, a panel discussion with Melissa Lenczewski (Geology and Environmental Geosciences) Shanthi Muthuswamy (Engineering Technology) and Rachel Rupnow (Mathematical Sciences)
