Libraries and RIPS Award Authors

Once again, the University Libraries and the Division of Research and Innovation Partnerships (RIPS) are teaming up to offer awards covering the costs of open access publishing. NIU faculty and graduate students seeking to publish a scholarly, peer-reviewed article in an academic journal are welcome to submit an application to have their publishing fees covered by the Open Access Publishing Fund.

Applications are reviewed by a panel of librarians to determine the eligibility of the author as well as the eligibility of the journal’s publisher. The journal and publisher eligibility criteria include:

  • Membership in the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association, or adheres to the majority of its membership criteria.
  • Has a clearly defined peer-review process.
  • Is fully open access and does not charge readers or their institutions for access to peer-reviewed articles.
  • Identifies a clear and standard article fee schedule.

We wish you best of luck in your research and publishing efforts!
