Birds, Beasts, Bugs, and Little Fishes: Wildlife Around the NIU Campus

a wolf stands alert on the snowFor the past ten or more years, Michael Day, professor of English and director of the First-Year Composition Program, has had a daily ritual of walking along the Kishwaukee River through the NIU campus and Prairie Park, watching and listening, trying to capture what he sees – in light, color, and form. Through his work, he shares the many faces of nature, the wildness of spirit, and the interplay of light and shadow woven into the tapestry of the natural world. His work will be on display in the Founders Memorial Gallery from Monday, April 4th through Friday, April 29th.

Join Michael Day for a lecture on Tuesday, April 5 at 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. His talk will discuss his artistic philosophy and process, including influences on his work, his meanderings through the landscape, and his photographic techniques.

This event is part of NIU Libraries’ Research and Artistry Series. The series serves as a venue for NIU faculty and instructors to share their knowledge, creativity, and hard work with others at Northern Illinois University and the broader NIU communiversity.
